Silly unwritten rules of the workplace...

As a career coach, it's sad how often my clients feel the need to hide their job search from their employers.

For leaders of organizations, please continue to do independent research on job satisfaction (especially generational differences). It'll show you that the vast majority of employees value career development and support of career goals very highly. Employees who feel supported by leadership are going to perform better, but we should all know that by now.

Losing great talent sucks, but they are leaving for a reason. If you create an environment where there is no opportunity for growth or employees don't feel that their careers are supported, you will see the consequences in motivation, productivity, morale, and much more. If they are ready to leave, make them a better offer or help them transition to something better. It's that simple.
