Know Your Worth then Make Your Employer Understand It

As a job seeker, you need to have just as much caution to taking a job as the employer does to hiring you. You are not helpless. You are not desperate. You have wanted talent and skills that deserve respect.

If they make you an offer and you are still unsure, YOU ask for an additional interview! Yes, you can do that!

Ask to speak directly with the person who will be your supervisor and potentially a representative from Human Resources. Don’t rely on emailed questions, company reviews, or assumptions.

Schedule a time with them to ask questions that address your hesitations. Prepare your questions in advance, and allow them to now tell YOU why they are the best for YOU.

Then you decide if it is right for you. If you need a higher salary, a later start date, etc., negotiate! They have already expressed that they want you. hashtag#KnowYourWorth and be comfortable walking away if it’s not a fit. Don’t be greedy though.

You have more power than you know. Especially now that employers are finding difficulties hiring and retaining top talent. Leverage that and kick ass in your new job!
